Meanwhile, as Jeff was falling asleep, Dr. Marcoh went into his house and picked up his paper. One of the stories in the paper was about a donkey that was found in someone's bathroom yesterday morning. That got a chuckle out of Marcoh.
Further on, the paper has said about how one of the twin boys went missing from that household, and they were offering quite a hefty reward for any who may happen to find the boy. This reminded old man Marcoh of his neighbor that happened to have expressed his desire to go back and relive his childhood. Particularly his teenage years in high school.
As an evil grin spread across his face, a plan formed in his mind. He could use his chronivac to turn his neighbor into the former boy that was Jeff, and collect the reward money as well!
Chuckling, and running back out to his workshop to grab up a new chronivac, Marcoh proceeded to head on over to his young neighbor;s house. Well, he wasn't really young. 40....50ish perhaps. He had a wife and young child.
"What was his name again? Mike? Yeah, Mike something....Mike....Mike....It was Mike Callahan! Yea, that's it! Mike Callahan!" though Dr. Marcoh.
Mike Callahan had lightish brown hair that was already fading and turning gray in some spots, with brown eyes. He looked English. And with the name Callahan, he assumed he was of English decent.
A few weeks prior, Mike noticed Marcoh out watering his flowers along their shared road access to each of their driveways. Wandering over to introduce himself to Marcoh as the new neighbor, they talked for quite a while. At one point, Mike revealed to Marcoh, as he was watching his young 10 year-old boy out playing in the yard, how he missed his own childhood, and sighed. What he missed most, however, was high school.
"So, this is it!" though Marcoh as he picked up the device. "I can take this thing over to his house, and have him try it out. I can use it briefly on myself, as a demonstration to hopefully convince Mr. Callahan to purchase one."
And that is exactly what he did when he wandered over to the Callahan's house. He wanted to speak with Mike alone, in the privacy of his workshop. He showed him a chronivac, and wanted to demonstrate to the man what it is, and how it worked. He might be impressed with the thing.
Not really interested in another man's toy that looked like a glorified microwave over, Mike consented anyway, just to be neighborly. Hell, perhaps he would offer him a few beers or something. Marcoh urged him to bring along his checkbook as well, just in case. Once again, Mike obliged out of being kind to this strange new neighbor of his.
And so, they headed back to Marcoh's infamous workshop of horrors; Mike with checkbook in hand, and Marcoh with his device he wanted to sell.
While in the workshop, Marcoh went through a number of demonstrations for Mike. He had a choice to make: Demonstrate on himself first, or Mike first. Or just himself, or just Mike. Hopefully, he could complete a deal as quickly as possible, turn the man into the boy Jeffrey Palermo, and collect the reward for "finding" those people's missing son.
