Emily paused, and for a moment she sniffed as well, trying to figure out just what had given Cara pause. There was a faint hint of... something there, something she couldn't quite place. Like wet dog, but that couldn't be right as there were no pets allowed in the building. She shook it off and considered Cara's question. Leigh and Veronica knew them, and she wasn't sure how acute their eye for detail would be. Taking them along would be risky. This werewolf business was getting out of hand enough with the two of them changing, and she was loath to let anyone else in on the secret.
"Nah, let's not bug them. I mean, we're ready now, and we'd have to wait for them."
"Ooh yeah, good point. Looks like it's just you and me on the prowl tonight."
"Yeah, looks like," Emily said with a toothy grin.
Cara rushed down the stairs of the apartment building, skipping steps in her haste with a wild look in her eyes. The giddiness was infectious to Emily, who giggled as she tried to keep up. Reaching the parking lot there was no doubt as to who was driving, as Cara went straight for the wheel, barely even remembering her seatbelt. Emily shut her door and belted up, only to be greeted by the sound of her roommate turning the ignition and revving the engine.
"Wooooooooooooh!" Cara cried, and Emily had to suppress a shiver as her friend's rather lupine vocalization stirred new instincts that made her want to answer it.
Cara was a madwoman at the wheel that night, driving at speeds that almost would have frightened Emily before. Tonight though it felt just right, and she found herself egging her roommate on as they raced other cars between the lights. She was still laughing when they pulled into the parking lot of the club. She hadn't been there when Leigh and Veronica had mentioned it to Cara and thus hadn't caught the name. Thus it was that she was smirking at the irony when she saw it up in lights.
It was called "Hair of the Dog," and the signage on the outside was distinctly wolf-themed.
"Oh yeah, I think we're going to like this club," she said to Cara as they stepped up to the entrance to show their IDs.
"I know! Doesn't it look cool?" Her roommate said before shouldering inside.
The theme was kept up inside, the walls painted to look like a moonlit forest, with several wolves and pairs of glowing golden eyes scattered throughout the mural. As the house lights switched, Emily could tell that several parts of the mural were black-light reactive, causing some of the wolves to disappear from view during parts of the songs.
Cara was headed right for the bar, and Emily did her best to keep up. There was a niggling worry that drinking might not be the best option until they were more used to this, but she quickly brushed that aside. This was already fun, and she wanted to enjoy the night with her roommate.
