Carter and Horst agreed. If they had thought about it, they probably could have come up
with a better plan. But thinking on their feet was not one of their strong points.
They took Dallas to meet Vinnie. It was awkward explaining how Vinnie could make such
cloths without revealing the magic involved or that the cloths were humans but they
managed. Dallas wanted to buy a cloth immediately and he wanted to see how the cloth
was made. Vinnie and Carter went back into the bedroom carrying Ryan. They researched
the book to see what they could do while Horst tried to keep Dallas distracted in the living
room. It became easier when Dallas need to use the bathroom. Horst ducked into the
bedroom to check on Vinnie's progress.
Horst asked, "How's it going."
Vinnie said, "I think I found a way to make a copy of Ryan. Again, I'm not sure about some
of this spell. I couldn't use one that makes an exact copy because you told Dallas that Ryan
doesn't want a cloth of him seen. This one seems to copy the shape only and not the
color."
Carter said, "Well let's try it."
Vinnie directed his energy. The amulet didn't use spoken spells. Vinnie didn't have to say
anything. The amulet, guided by the thoughts and feelings of Vinnie, also relied on Vinnie's
poses and movements for control. Vinnie had directed his energy toward Ryan to gather
into his mind the shape for the copy.
Just then Dallas walked in the door to see what was up and distracted Vinnie whose focus
swung wildly. The next thing they knew . . .
