Your eyes catch a glint of reflected moonlight on the ground.
"Hey," you say, stooping down to reach for it, "I found something." Your fingers close around cold, silvery metal, lifting a discarded necklace from the dirt. A shiver passes up your arm as you clasp the chain, squinting in the dark to make out the features of the pendant on the necklace. Eventually your eyes focus on the contours of a snarling wolf's head.
"Well, that's not an ominous thing to find at all," Rachel quips sarcastically.
"Someone probably just left it here to mess with us," you say to Tina to reassure her, the blonde girl's scared expression easing somewhat as you say it.
"Bet you're still too scared to wear it though," Rachel taunts you.
"Oh come off it. I think I'll wear it just to prove there's nothing to worry about," you retort.
Rachel has an amused grin as you brush the dirt off the necklace before slipping it around your neck. Another shiver passes through you as the cold metal touches the skin of your neck and chest, and you wonder for a moment if it isn't something more. You quickly disregard this thought though, and smile to your cabin-mates.
"You gonna eat us now?" Rachel says with mirth in her voice.
"Pff, as if," you reply. "Nothing's happening, see?"
"I stand corrected," Rachel retorted, turning away from you to wander deeper into the woods.
You go to follow, idly scratching the itch that has just sprung up in your shoulder...
