Joe panicked as he heard the door knob start to turn. He backed up quickly, his hooves clopping loudly on the tile floor, and pressed his back into the door to keep it shut.
"I'm not done yet." He ground his teeth as the words came out in his new voice.
"Are you sure? You sound... different." She said, pressing her ear against the door.
Joe tried to think quickly,
"My nose is just swollen up and my voice is coming out all weird." His pitch changed as he spoke, seeking a masculine tone but not able to find it.
"Ok, but really, if you need anything at all just ask. I feel responsible for giving you that swollen nose." Joe looked back at the mirror and saw the ring hanging from his nostrils. "And jeez," she started in a ruder tone, "what did you eat? Smells like a barn in there." Her footsteps went away from the door and Joe breathed a sigh of relief.
