For the rest of the day, Michelle felt very upbeat and full of energy. And for some reason she was also giggling every few seconds, as much in impulse as in genuine pleasure.
"Gee Michelle, what's gotten into you?" said her friend Jaime as they just finished the the softball game.
"I don't know, hee hee," giggled Michelle. "For some reason, hee hee, I just feel happy, hee hee." Now Michelle wasn't simply giggling-she was speaking with a goofy lilt and an involuntary jolliness, and useing her hand in rather exagerrated gestures. But she didn't care-except that her shoes felt a little tight.
That night after she showered, Michell thought her skin looked a little paler. And pink was going through her hair. She figured her eyes must be playing tricks on her.
Had she looked any closer she'd have noted that her nose was redder and beginning to plump up....
