Sedona ran in a blind panic (although not so blind that she lost her purchases.) She ran till she lost her breath, when she stopped, panting heavily in canine fashion. She needed to talk to someone, to explain why this wasn't really her. She pinched her earclip and waited.
Maggie arrived in about five minutes. She had a look of concern that barely managed to cover a smile. The two canine-humans sniffed each other, then Maggie spoke.
"That moment, huh?"
"Huh?" panted Sedona.
"Your pheromones went to the top of the chart, then the next thing we see is hard physical exertion accompanied by rapid movement, we know what's going on. Kind of weird, being a heterosexual female after being male all your life? Panic is not an unprecedented reaction."
"That obvious, I guess."
"I remember my first time. I was in a feline body, and made it to the top of the nearest tree in about five seconds."
"Your first time? This happened to you?"
"Oh yeah, I was born male and straight. Being a girl has its advantages, though."
"OK, I guess it was stupid to freak out--I'm a straight female, I should expect straight female instincts."
"The question now" said Maggie "is what you should do about those instincts."
"I'm faithful to my wife." Sedona replied with a hint of a growl. "And if I could rein in my instincts as a male, I can certainly do it as a female."
"That's your choice, and we respect it and we'll support it in any way we can. But if you're interested in advice based on five years as a TF Park ranger, start incorporating berries in your diet. Better safe."
