Chuck laid down in the cleanest part of his straw covered stall. It was only 9:15p.m. He had stood looking around the smelly stall sine seven. At last, bored he laid down for a rest after one wild and strange day. Wiggle, kick, wiggle he tried to find a soft spot in the prickley straw. He was just about asleep when a fly landed on his upper lip and decided to walk up into his nostril.
Like a bolt of lightning the stallion jumped up and began to snort and whinnie. Several of the mares closest to him stood up and were alert for whatever was wrong. Snorting and tring to clear the itchy feeling in his nose he folded his legs and laid down once again.
The calm to which he was quickly becoming used to was broken by some person banging their knuckles on the bottom of a steel washpan.
"Up it's time to rise, ponies UP!" called a new voice.
The noises of ponies awakening and someone going about the barn talking to the mares and calling them by name. "Kazan, hey big boy get the lazy butt of yours out of the sack and I'll give you some feed!" called the strange voice.
Chuck opened his one eye that faced away from the prickley straw. Thoughts of his first day as a stallion were fresh in his mind. "Get up, I'm tired!" he thought to himself. "Whoever is making all the noise, please go away! Oh yea, I had sex with three no four mares yesterday afternoon, that's a lot of work, they just don't know how much one has to put himself out to get so much of one's self in!"
"KAZAN, get up lazy!" called the strange voice again.
Slowly Chuck (Kazan) the stallion got to his hoofs and began to look around.
"Billy, Billy come here I want to show you something!" called Mrs. Ranskin as she stood near the Dun colored stallion.
"Yes Mum!" replied Billy a blonde haired youth of maybe 19.
"Billy a strange thing happened yesterday and Kazan is nolonger Kazan! A man I did not know came to the farm. He had stopped at the diner down the road near Cooper. There he found the lost ring from Lacota's special set. As he was out here the man made a wish to be as happy as he felt Kazan was, and they exchanged bodies! Now the new name for the Dun stallion is Chuck." explained the lady farm owner.
"Chuck, now that's a rich sounding name!" stated the youth with a grin.
"Well none the less that's his name and I expect you to call him by the name he has! Do you understand me Billy?" the lady said sternly.
Chuck stood by listening to the going's on. As then Billy reached over and gave a love pat to Chucks left cheek. Chuck gave his motion to beg for speach and with a reluctant sigh the lady spoke the spell again.
"Hey, good morning! I wish to ask for a TV hung up there in the rafters so I could watch some sports or something to cut the boredom of being cooped up in a dusty barn with nothing to do, how about it?" asked the pony stallion.
Billy and Mrs. Ranskin began to laugh and laugh. As each turn to a job about the barn there chuckles could be heard far and wide.
"Chuck, get this straight, your are a pony stallion! Pony stallions don't watch TV, they are dumb animals and you are an animal! How would it look if I had one hung there and someone came over to see the ponies. Why, how would you expect me to explain that my prime stud pony like to watch the Chicago Cubs play baseball? Look, listen, and hear me well, you are a pony stallion, a stud animal used for breeding mares, nothing more! Got that an animal, to be treated as an animal by day and night, learn it and learn it well Chuck!" badgered the lady.
Chuck turned tail toward the humored pair and had only one thought about the ultimatum, "Up yours!
