As Jennifer finished getting ready, she heard a honk outside. Her
boyfriend had finally arrived to pick her up.
'It's about time!' she thought. She quickly ran down the stairs to
the front door, slipped on her shoes, grabbed her things, and slipped
out the door, locking it behind her. She quickly hopped into her
boyfriend's, Tom's, car, who sped off as soon as Jennifer had slammed
the door shut. He knew that every second counted, and that Jennifer
couldn't afford any more tardies.
"G'mornin' babe. I got you something! I know it was last week, but
Happy Valentines day! It was on sale, so I thought I'd pick you up
another box of chocolates. Here," he said, as he pulled the small
heart-shaped box from his coat pocket.
"Thanks, but I really don't need any more chocolate. I need to stay
in shape for cheerleading," she replied.
"Oh, come on, live a little! One little piece of chocolate isn't
going to hurt you! Besides, I only got you a tiny box because I knew
you wouldn't want very much. Go on, eat to your hearts content!" he
urged.
"Well...I suppose it wouldn't hurt. I'll eat just one, but that's all
for today!" she said as she began to unwrap the box of chocolates.
She knew she wanted more than one piece, but she just couldn't chance
gaining any weight. She carefully opened the box to reveal four small
