Jessica Gets a Warning

added by loony28 12 years ago O

As Jessica was working in the garden she thought about her old life. She hadn't felt comfortable then but she did now. It was like she was supposed to have been born a girl but had been born a boy instead. Now she was in the right body and she couldn't be happier. She paused in her work and looked around the back yard. There was an outhouse and run for bathing like she had thought upon first entering the cabin. She hadn't expected to see the big brick oven with iron door out back but then again she should have expected it. You can't bake stuff in a wood burning stove after all. She went back to work smiling having no idea her new mom was telling the doll man how she planned to take over her body.

After a little bit a fairy came up to her and said, "I must give you a warning. The witch in the cabin is an evil witch."

"Why do you say that?" Jessica asked the fairy cocking her head.

"Because she is," the fairy said sounding very sure of that fact. "Have you heard the story of Hansel and Gretel?"

"Of course," Jessica said looking confused.

"That witches name is Gretel Goode, the same Gretel as in the story," the fairy said looking at the cabin.

"But Gretel wasn't a witch and would be dead by now," Jessica said shaking her head.

"That's true but when the evil witch had felt herself being pushed into the oven she quickly cast a spell causing her soul and Gretel's to switch bodies," the fairy said sadly. "Since then she has been using magic to keep herself young and healthy. However since that isn't her original body it's wearing out despite what she does. She needs to switch into a new body soon or she will die. You'll be that body I'm sure."

"That can't be true," Jessica said shaking her head.

"It is please believe me," the fairy said pleading. "You can be a great good witch or a great evil witch. The choice is your's but only if you leave so she can't swap bodies with you."

"I just can't leave here," Jessica said shaking her head. "I feel like I belong here it feels like home. Even if I did leave I'm a ten year old girl now. Where would I go?"

"We fairies would take care of you until we could find someone else to take care of you, maybe even make you one of us," the fairy said with a little light in her eyes.

"Could I think about it for a little bit?" Jessica asked not wanting to leave here.

"Alright but don't take too long," the fairy said. "If you decide to leave just whisper my name and I'll come to help. Oh you can call me Gold Tear." With that she flew away and Jessica finished her chore.

Once she was done she took the foxglove inside and her mom told her to wash her hands and sit at the table. Once she was seated her mom placed a sandwich in front of her saying that it would tide her over until supper. Jessica was thinking about what the fairy had said and noticing that she looked a little preoccupied her mom asked, "Is something wrong sweetie?"

Jessica wanted to tell her what the fairy had said but she didn't know if she should. If the fairy was telling the truth then telling her mom might make her switch their souls now and Jessica thought she might want to train her at least a bit first. What should she do?
