The woman, who I took to be Isis, came up to us and took the baby saying, "I'll make sure she grows up proper this time. Now we need to send you two back to the beginning again."
"Wait a minute," I said holding up a hand. "What do you mean you need to send us back to the beginning?"
"Oh you need to go back and make some different choices," Inari said with a smile. Perhaps you'll make it here again James Phillips though I'm betting that you won't. I know it's a long shot seeing as you've made it here every single time before." He looked at me in a way that gave me the creeps and said, "As for you Richard Plunkett I doubt we'll be seeing you again. You're far to dangerous to us for us to allow you to continue to exist."
"What do you mean?" I asked not liking where this might be going.
"Oh it's simple really," Inari smiling in a way that sent shivers down my spine. "Your mind has defenses that we hadn't foreseen which makes it more difficult for us to use you as a puppet. The only way that we can defeat those defenses is to wipe you from existence. You'll become someone else and no matter what you'll never return to who you were or remember your experiences. You'll remain in this world for all time so enjoy your new life."
"You frauds!" I yelled as I charged at them. Isis had started to chant and things went misty. I knew I was too late to do anything against these two who were not gods. With sudden clarity I realized that all the dreams I had were the future and the past. The future because they hadn't happened yet and the past because it had happened to me. My dreams were really memories of past times these frauds had sent me back. I knew that they weren't gods because no god would mess around with time as much as these two probably have. Doing so could cause some serious disruptions to space and time, the freak snowstorm being one example. The pieces fell into place too late for me to do anything and now I probably wouldn't be able to do anything seeing as how I wouldn't exist. As I felt myself dissolve I hit upon a slim chance. I concentrated on preserving a core bit of myself to carry over into my new life. I didn't know if it would work seeing as how I was sure they had the Ring of the Gods but I had to try.
