Nate ran through the neighborhoods, finding his wolf instincts and senses starting to kick in. He was able to see better in the dark. The range of smells he could pick up had also increased. He headed back towards the college campus, where he was a student.
In the distance, he made out two figures walking along the sidewalk. He quickly recognized them as his roommates Joel and Ben. He leaned up against a tree, curling a clawed, paw-like hand around one of the branches and waited for them to get closer. He was going to give them the scare of their lives.
As they approached, they were talking and laughing, lost in their own little world. Nate dropped down on his haunches and let out a low growl. They both immediately looked right at him, scared beyond belief.
"What the hell is that?" asked Ben.
"I don't know..." said Joel.
Without warning, Nate leapt from the shadows and landed on Ben, knocking him to the ground. Joel let out a high pitched scream and immediately ran away. Nate would have busted out laughing then and there if he wasn't focused on Ben. He had him pinned to the ground, let out growl and snarl after another. Ben could feel his hot breath on his face as he cried out for help. Feeling he had enough fun, Nate licked him on the side of his face with his lupine tounge and ran off into the night.
"Serves them right for never cleaning up after themselves," thought Nate to himself.
Ben slowly got up and ran off in the direction of their apartment, too scared to look back.

The next morning, Nate woke up in the woods next to the river. He quickly realized that he had turned back to his old self. Slightly disappointed, he slowly got up and began the trek back to his apartment. Lucky for him, it was early dawn and hardly anyone else was up yet. He had to hold onto his jeans, tattered and stretched out from the previous night's transformation.
He quietly let himself back into the apartment, stashing his tattered jeans in his bedroom and then heading for the shower. After getting cleaned up, he went back into his bedroom. He looked himself over in the mirror and found that he had been left with a leaner, more muscular physique from the transformation. Beyond that, he was still largely his same old self.
He did find himself wondering though, was the soda a one shot deal or would he change again? And if so, when?
