Ty contemplated things for a long time. Dustin, he decided, wasn't any worse off now than he was before. He was being cared for in a zoo, a crummy zoo but a zoo, and he'd live a long life that way.
June was also in pretty good shape, and really in a way was better off than he felt she really deserved. Now she'd spend the rest of her life making an old woman happy, as well as the two male cats that she lived with.
Wendy was a special case. Ty realized that what happened there was partly his fault. She wasn't really doing anything he didn't want to do, and besides the sex was fantastic. But it would do her good to spend some time worrying that he might not return. Perhaps he'd surprise her later by turning into a boar and seeing how she reacted...
But for the moment, Marks fate really bothered him. Mark deserved to be punished, but not really eaten and crapped out. If Ty had discovered that Mark had been adopted by a kid and was living in a wire cage somewhere, he'd have left him that way, but somehow this was too much.
Standing up, he willed himself to whatever remained of his foster father. He suddenly found himself standing in the middle of the woods about 10 miles away. He looked around, then his eyes fell on a small pile of dead leaves. He turned it over and found a mouse skull and a few bits of fur, the largest bits of his Mark that were left.
He turned the weather skull over in his hands. He'd done a lot of crazy things in the last few months, things that were by all rights completely impossible, but could he raise the dead?
Ty considered it, and realized that there might be a way. "Ok," he said out loud to no one, "Maybe I can create a copy of Mark in his last moments. Could that work?" Ty looked around, then transported over the nearest small mammal he could find, a chipmunk that had been scampering up a nearby tree. With a few thoughts, he willed that the chipmunks brain be overlaid with whatever Marks brain had contained right up to about 20 seconds before he died (with adaptations for the fact that this was a different body).
The chipmunk, who Ty had been holding, suddenly stopped struggling, then looked at Ty, and it's face filled with horror again.
Ty smiled, and realized that Mark was back.
