I felt the stone of the cave floor before I saw it. I looked around dumbfounded. There was treasure everywhere. I bent down and picked up a trinket. It was a diamond studded bracelet with a solid gold wristband. It must have been worth a fortune. Just as I was about to slip it over my hand, an earth shaking roar sounded from deep in the cave. I flung the bracelet back into it's pile and stared into the depths of the cave. A large scaled head emerged from behind a mountain of treasure. It was a true dragon head indeed: the scales glinted in a collage of colors when the light reflected at just the right angle, the snout was a bit longer than it was wide, and fire danced in the great black eyes of the beast. I gasped and started to back up. As I retreated, the monster followed. First its long snakelike neck, then its powerful wings, its gracefully muscular body, and lastly its spike covered tail. It gazed into my eyes, seeming to read my very soul. We stood there for a moment before a voice sounded in my head.
"Can you feel the great power calling to you?" it asked.
"What great power?" I thought.
"The great power which brought you to me." it answered. I was confused. I'm suddenly in a cave with a dragon, and I start hearing voices? "I must be crazy!" I thought.
"The voice you hear belongs to the creature in front of you." The voice echoed throughout my head.
"What?!" I said out loud.
"Calm yourself! I will ask again: do you feel the great power?" I shook my head
"Close your eyes and concentrate. Feel it calling: it wants you, and you want it too." I obeyed.
"Feel the power rising within you!" As if on que, I felt a sudden surge of energy.
"Feel it's call and answer! Sprout your wings young one! Catch the call and fly with the great ones!" I could feel a wave of heat hit my body as I felt an alien sensation. I opened my eyes and watched as my nightgown ripped to shreds as my body grew. As I watched, my body grew scales. My hands and feet grew longer. I lost two digits on each appendage as talons grew on the remaining digits. I felt myself grow somewhat larger as something grew in front of my face, which I knew was a snout. I turned my head and saw a tail growing out of my back and a pair of large wings unfurl from my back. I whipped my head back to the dragon in front of me. The last thing she did before I woke up was to command me to roar...
