"Shorter? You're sure?"
"Look for yourself, Boss." Tony points to Manny's head.
"Yeah, your right, I'm shrinking. Gotta put a stop to this right away." Manny goes back into his office he pulls book on his book shelf it swings open to reveal another room. Manny raises his arm, and the sleeve slides back like a robe to reveal his hand. He waves his hand at Don, the barber, and his assistants who are in the process of dressing Don in his football gear, the freeze. "Forget!" Manny stumbles on his oversize pants legs, he pulls them up and walks through the bookcase.
The bookcase closes, and the people began moving again unaware that Manny and Tony just walked through a secret door behind the bookcase.
"Get me a map of the city, and light the candles, Tony." Manny proceeds to place a silver bowl on the table and fills it with water from a silver pitcher. He reaches under his collar and pulls out an ancient amulet. He says a few magic words, and the image of a wand appears in the bowl. He next stabs with a letter opener at the map.
"Quick, Tony, get the plat book. I'm shrinking faster, open it to the 4300 of Elm Street."
"Don DeSoto lives at 4356 Elm Street," Tony says as he returns with the book.
"Does he?" Manny is looking up at Tony, who has to be nearly 2 feet taller than him. Many stabs the map book. "4346 Elm right next door to Mr. DeSoto!"
"We'll pay them a visit later. Now, Reverto!" Manny's hand splashes into the water. It feels cold, my hand feels cold. I'm becoming Manny. I feel what he feels. My vision is sharper now, I see what he sees. I wanted to know what time it was, and Manny looked at his watch. I wanted to call Bill scum, and Manny did. If I could influence him enough, maybe Don would get out of this intact.
I looked at the bowl and wondered, I felt myself growing back. Not the few inches that Manny had lost, but all the feet I'd dropped. I could feel my finger tips. It was like I was under Manny's skin.
"Boss, you okay?"
"Yeah, I think so. Just growing back has made my skin crawl. It feels like there's something underneath.
