"This is so strange," said Sarah as she took her shoes off.
"You're telling me," said Thomas, "I didn't expect to get married so soon. Or be wearing the suit when it happened."
They laughed and kissed. Their little shotgun wedding at the courthouse had gone off well. Their friends and family weren't that surprised, though there wasn't that much excitement over the nuptials.
No one in attendance knew that the bride and groom had switched places a couple days before the ceremony as a lark, or that the person born as Thomas was waiting anxiously in her barn for the next part of the plan.
The three of them decided together that they should get married before they really put this crazy plan in motion. They weren't sure why they felt like this would stop one of them from screwing the other two over in some way, but it was something. They also wanted to be able to live together under one roof without raising an eyebrow. Being a young married couple, even married at the young age of 18, would help to act as cover.
They also tried to set some general ground rules, a big one being that no one is turned into something without their approval. Each of them knew that it was always a chance they could get stuck in whatever form they were in at any time, so they didn't want to end up stuck as a roach or a goldfish.
That night, after they'd spend a little while consumating their marraige, Thomas snuck into the barn and used the medallion on Sadie along with the collar from a champion young female labrador they'd managed to aquire. "Ready to let Sadie go?" asked Thomas. In response, the horse grabbed up the two items and in moments had transformed into the young dog.
They returned to the hotel and a strange little family of sorts.
By the time they left two weeks later for college, the original Sarah was in the dogs body, the original Thomas was Sarah and Ian was Thomas. For now, they planned to swap every couple of weeks at random.
For now.
