I woke up and looked at the clock. It was ten in the morning which was unusual for me since I was usually up around seven. I must have been really tired last night. Of course I was woken up a couple times by Jill screaming. She had also woke up the other girl who we learned was Shawna when Lori came in. Shawna was a little angry about being woken up twice but Lori told her that Jill had gone through a traumatic experience and that it was natural for her to have nightmares.
I looked out the open window noticing it for the first time and wondered why it was open. Any wild animal could get in. Did Lori know that the window was opened? I shrugged and decided to wait and see if anything was said. Feeling the urge to pee I got up and went to the bathroom. After I had peed I decided to take a shower like I did every morning. As I was getting ready to lather up the water stopped. It wasn't like it had shut off but just stopped in midair. I could see the individual water drops hanging beside the streams of water almost like they were frozen in time but that was impossible. Then again here was the evidence that it was possible staring me in the face. Confused I got out and dried off. As an experiment I threw the towel into the air and it hung there. I grabbed the towel again and after getting dressed again I went back to the bedroom. As I entered I saw Jill frozen in mid-step which kind of freaked me out. I looked down the hall and saw Lori coming down it but she was frozen mid-step as well. Shawna wasn't moving either which gave me the impression that I was the only one who was moving. Shrugging I sat down on my bed figuring that I would practice entering people's minds since I had nothing better to do right now. Besides it might prove to be interesting.
I went into Jill's mind first and I found that it was frozen as well. From the image I figured she had been thinking about her mom just moments before the shooting when time stopped for everyone but me. Of course I couldn't be sure that time had stopped for everyone so I decided to go into other minds.
My explorations reveled the same thing. Time seemed to have stopped for everyone but me. There were a few that I couldn't get into and this puzzled me. I then thought about what my mom had said and realized that these were probably ones that were somehow protected or I didn't have enough experience to enter their minds.
I kept going like this for a long time. I don't know how long I had been doing it. I took breaks when I was hungry, thirsty, or had to go to the bathroom. The clock kept saying thirteen after ten and no one had moved from their positions. It was eerie knowing that I could be the only one who was still moving in the world.
I was guessing that about a year had passed for me though I didn't seem to grow any older. I started to wonder if time was ever going to start back up. If it didn't then I thought that I would go crazy from not having any interaction with people. The good news was that I was getting really good at entering people's minds and I think I was able to get the high compression. With time stopped however I couldn't tell if I actually was or if it was just wishful thinking. I couldn't control anything in their minds probably because of their minds being frozen in time. I did get into a few of the minds I couldn't before which was progress. Now if time would only start up again I could accurately gauge how much I have been able to develop my ability.
