Almost immediately upon exiting the ship, the security team moved to the ends of the doorway, scanning the horizon before the moved out, sweeping around the ship, the two women close behind. Sarah quite promptly began studying the planets conditions, her scientific mind absolutely buzzing with the excitement as they moved. What must have been the single most striking aspect of the planet had to be the eerie olive green hue the planets surface was bathed in, making it harder to distinguish the true color of the rocks and plants around them.
Quietly leaning over, Sarah picked up one of the rocks, its surface glimmering with what looked like a form of quartz, but far more clearly defined than typical rocks back home. The stone felt warm, even warmer than the surface temperature of the planet, which begged the thought of even more diverse bacterial systems... they would thrive in a climate like this.
Not too far away lay what could be described as a jungle, though many of the "trees" looked almost insectoid, the leaves and fruit thick, almost chitinous in appearance. They grew very tall, and the bases quite thick, something that Sarah noted would make them hard to cut for any resources they could offer... however the one thing that caught the young scientists attention more than anything else where the strange, nine legged insects that where swarming over the ground not too far away. They seemed intelligent, coordinated, much as ants, and in many ways resembled ants, or more appropriately, a hybrid of ant, spider, scorpion and wasp, with two huge wings, probably a foot in size each, tucked neatly along their backs. The "stingers" each of them carried seemed equally large, stemming out to five different points, bent upwards somewhat like a scorpions tail, but hinged in a way that made her consider it more like an extra leg itself. Each of the creatures where extraordinarily beautiful, exquisite colors visible even through the olive green sunlight, and as they moved, it was a smooth, graceful motion, not as jarring as many earth insects.
Almost immediately, Sarah was brought back out of her focused study of the animals by the sound of gunfire, and she immediately looked back toward the others as she noticed another branch of the swarm approaching them, seemingly moving toward the Vietnamese Engineer...
