Ty began to feel a little guilty that he was having all the fun changing people using his powers. He was loving the fact that he could teleport anywhere and that he could just modify people he saw walking around anyway he wanted to just by making a simple wish. However, he started to feel bad that his best friend Jake was still left in the dark about all this. After all, he had known Jake since the first grade, and Jake had always shared everything with him, from money to candy to books to everything else you could think of. So, Ty decided it was time to fill in Jake about his powers.
Ty and Jake walked past the food court, where Ty had just changed a boy named Mark into the high school quarterback, and they were now heading towards the video game store. Once inside, there were several kids wandering around the large store, which was filled with numerous metal racks and large shelves placed along the paremiter of the store, filled with boxed video game, all grouped together by the video console brand and type. Ty quickly went for the newest Xbox games and quickly found the game he had been wanting to get for awhile, but never had the money to buy until now.
While Ty was standing in line for the cash register to pay for his video game, he saw a boy standing next to his mother, as they were looking over a few video games that were on display. The video games were marked to be "Age 13 and above", and the boy was clearly a few years young; he was probably about eleven years old.
"Mom! Can't I buy that game now?" the boy asked.
"No, honey! You're too young to play that game. It's too violent and the language is too rough! You have to wait two years before I can buy that game for you!" the lady replied.
The poor kid just stared at the game with a seriously disappointed look on his face. The pictures on the box just looked so exciting and the game just seemed like it would be so much fun to play. Furthermore, two years would seem like a lifetime for a kid to have to wait to play a video game, and by the time two years would have gone by, he probably would have forgotten about that game by then.
Ty had overheard the conversation between the mother and the boy, and he quietly turned towards Jake, who was standing right next to him in line by the cash register.
"Jake! See that kid over there, next to that lady? His mother just told him that he couldn't get that game because he was too young!" Ty whispered.
"Yeah... poor kid..." Jake sighed.
"Jake! Watch that kid. Don't say anything!" Ty whispered, as he made a silent wish for the boy to age to thirteen right there in the video game store, and for only Ty and Jake to notice the changes.
Suddenly, the boy started to get taller. His arms stretched out while his legs became longer and longer. The boy's hair grew longer as well and his face changed a bit. He gained a little more hair on his arms and on his legs, as if he was suddenly going through puberty. The boy's muscles bulged out a little bit, and his calves and his pectorals became a little firmer. All this happened while Ty and Jake were watching. The boy probably grew about six inches taller right before their eyes!
"Whoa! Did you see that?" Jake gasped.
"Shhh!!" Ty hissed. "I'll explain this to you when we get home! I promise!"
"What? What do you mean? Did you do that to the kid?" Jake wondered.
"Yeah... I'll tell you when we get home!" Ty repeated.
The boy now tapped his mother on her shoulders a second time, and asked her again, in a deeper, baritone voice.
"Mom! I just found this game! Can I buy it?"
The lady stared at the box and sighed, but she didn't say anything. After all, the boy was practically an inch taller than she was by now!
"Sure, here is my credit card..." she said, as she handed the boy her credit card. The boy got the card and stood behind Jake in line to pay.
Ty paid for his game and then Ty and Jake walked out of the store. When they were near the exit to the mall, Ty turned towards Jake.
"I'll explain everything when we get home... Which is right now!" Ty said.
Instantly, Ty and Jake disappeared from the mall, and they re-appeared again in Ty's bedroom.
"Okay, Jake, I gotta show you something really cool!" Ty said, as he sat on his bed. "I got these really cool powers ever since I got up this morning, on my birthday..."
Jake's jaw dropped wide open.
"Just ask me to change something about you..." Ty suggested to his best friend.
Jake thought really hard for a moment...
