As you sit there humming away you begin to notice other voices humming along with you. You look around but see no one. After a few seconds you hear the giggling of high-pitched female voices. You follow that sound of the giggling but it keeps moving around. The more you try to catch up with the owners of these voices the more the giggling continues. You soon realize that they're all splitting up, chasing after just one won't get you anywhere. You decide to stand still for a moment. You can hear them giggling and sort of circling around you singing a slightly taunting wordless tune. You fly as fast as you can at one voice. You see her briefly before making contact with her. She's a female in a shimmering frock of blues and purples. He wings seem to match he dress. That's really all you see before colliding with her. Your momentum carries you further for a bit. Her giggling stops abruptly whereas the giggling of her follow fairies increase tenfold. You look her in the eyes.
"I want answers." you say. She props herself up on her elbows and glares at her friends, who have by now joined you before looking at you with a slightly less obvious glare.
"Who are you?" she asks.
"That's what I want to know." you say "I was...a human. I was a human male. I slept in the center of the fairy ring and I woke up like this. I forgot most of the rest of it after I flew for the first time. I only remember what I do no because I sat and tried to. I want to know how I can turn back into my old self." you say to her. By this time you're sitting on your knees while the others sit down around you listening to your tale.
"You were silly to sleep in a fairy ring, sister, and sillier yet to want to be human again." the fairy in blue and purple says to you. "I should tell you that there's no way to return to your old form, that you will be trapped in your new body forever. It'd make you happier in the long-run to come with us and just forget. But the truth is that there are ways to change into a human." she says.
"How?" you ask.
"We don't know." she says to you. Your dejected reaction makes the rest of them laugh
"It's true, silly, we don't." another says "But just because we can't help you, doesn't mean you can't be helped. Maybe you can find a way. As long as you're a fairy, though, you should come with us. It's safer for you with the other fairies. Plus we'll help you learn magic." she says "Come with us." she says holding your her hand. You hear the others voicing their approval of the plan, urging you to join them.
On one hand there IS safety in numbers and learning magic may help you learn a way to change yourself back. On the other hand, just flying around was enough to make you forget most of what you knew about being human. How do you know that you can keep your human mind if you go with them?
What do you do?
