David had wondered where Pam had gone. He was searching for his friend when he suddenly heard a creaking sound, like a rusty door that needed oil. He had read somewhere that this was the sound that adolescent dolphins made when trying to entice their prospective mates to join them in coupling. He swam to wards the sound, came through a growth of kelp and saw the young male dolphin playfully enticing Pam to mate with him.
