Jake was a 16 year old boy. He was 5'6” and weighed 120 pounds. He just got home from school. When he got home, he saw a package with his name on it. He picked it up. There was no return address.
Curious, he took it inside. He headed straight for his bedroom upstairs. Once in there, he threw down his backpack and tore open the package.
Inside the package was a necklace chain. On the chain was a golden circle the size of a small coin. One side it had smooth golden surface. On the other, there were the letters, O. T. inscribed on it. He set it down on his desk to search the box for any information about the sender.
The minute he put it down he saw it glow. His hand slowly reached out for the necklace. He wasn't sure why he put it on but he was somehow compelled to put it on. The second it was secured around his neck he felt a tingle. He looked in his bedroom mirror he saw the necklace had stopped glowing.
Suddenly, he heard his mother call out. “Jake, get down here, now! There is someone here to see you.”
Jake run downstairs to see who it was. He had a "feeling" he knew who was downstairs. When he got downstairs, he saw that the "someone" looked like one of his high school friends.
When the "someone" heard a noise behind him he turned around. It was his best friend Eric.
Eric was sitting on the couch when Jake walked into the living room. His hair was blond, short, and spiky. He had very green eyes. He was wearing his black sneakers. He was also wearing blue jeans with cargo pockets. He was wearing a dark red t-shirt that came down over his hips. A black hoodie was lying on the back of the couch.
“Your mom let me in,” Eric says.
“I was just thinking about you,” Jake responds. "What's up?"
“Nothing,” Eric says. "I just had this sudden urge to come over."
"Do you what to go upstairs and play some video games or go for a walk?" Jake asks his friend.
“Let's go out somewhere.” Eric says.
“Okay, where do you can to go?” Jake asks.
After a couple minutes of thinking, Eric makes a decision.
“Hey I know! Let’s go to the new amusement park on the beach." Eric says.
"I don't know if I can." Jake said pondering the thought. "Tonight is a school night."
(Unnoticed by both boys the necklace emits a subtle glow.)
"RING, RING . . . RING, RING!"
"I got it Mom." Jake picks up the phone. "Meadows residents."
"This is Mrs. Bowed of the school board. May I talk to one of your parents please?"
"Sure. one moment please." Jake puts his hand over the mouth piece and yells in the direction of the kitchen. "HEY MOM, SOMEONE FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD WANTS TO TALK TO YOU."
"Thanks hon, give me a second to wipe off my hands."
"My mother will be with you in a second." Jake waits for his mother to pick up the kitchen phone.
"Ok Jake, I got it."
"Mrs. Bowed? . . . Here's my mother." Jake waits for his mother to speak before he hangs up the phone.
After a few minutes of idle conversion Jake and Eric await the out come of the phone call.
A few minutes later Jake's mother walks into the room with a forlorn look on hers face. "There seems to be a problem with the Air Conditioning at the school. The School Board had decided to cancle school for the rest of the week. It seem that you boys are going to have a long weekend a head of you. What are you two going to do for the next four days?"
"We were just talking about the new amusement park that just opened on the beach." Eric told Mrs. Meadows.
"But neither one of us has the cash to go." Jake finishes his friends thoughts.
(Once again the necklace gives off a subtle glow.)
"You two must be the luckiest boys in town. I just happen to have two free four day passes to the park." Mrs. Meadows pulls out the passes from her apron pocket.
The two boys look at each other in total sunrise. They were just talking about it and now they can go.
"According to the passes there is a party to night at the park. I want you two behave for your brother tonight Jake. Eric, your mother says that you can stay the weekend as long as you behave yourself this time." Mrs. Meadows tells the boys.
"But mom, he is always us a hard time." Jake tells his mom. "I just wish that he would be nicer to me and my friends."
(The necklace around Jake's neck begins to glow again.)
"BEEP, BEEP, BEEP!"
"There he is now, now go have some fun." Mrs. Meadows hustle the two boys out the front door. "He will drop you off at the front gate. Give him a call when you are ready to come home."
Out front of the Meadows residents sat a suped up mustang with Brad Meadows at the wheel. "Come on little bros, times a wasting."
A short ten minute ride to the park later the two teens were standing in front of park entrance.
"Call when you are ready to come home. Laters dudes." The squeal of tires and big brother Brad was gone.
"What just happened?" Jake asked his friend.
"Who cares, let's go have some fun before thing go back to normal."
(The necklace glows brighter as many thoughts flow in Jake's mind.)
