And so Mary was left alone again. Sighing in resignation, she strolled over to her bedroom, stepping over crumbs and broken furniture and shreds of clothing, the tattered remains of the wild night she and Jess and Rob had had. It was almost surreal, to see the destruction they had caused, almost as if it had happened in a dream or a haze. Only it was all too real. They had become pigs, they had gone all the way thanks to a magic potion that they no longer had.
She stepped into the shower, and turned it on, the hot water pouring over her, soothing and relaxing some of her anxieties. She didn't understand this feeling of loss, this deep-seeded upset she was feeling - why was she so upset over not being a pig anymore? Why did it feel so good? Why did being human again somehow feel... less? It didn't make any sense.
After showering, she toweled off, brushing her hair carefully, pulling out any knots and tangles, and getting fully dressed. She didn't feel like dolling up, as it were - simplicity felt more natural now. A t-shirt, a pair of shorts, flip-flops... the appeal of glamour just seemed... less now.
Either way, she was feeling hungry, and since the three of them had quite literally eaten everything edible that she had, she needed to go out to get something to eat. Again. This little pig experience of hers was beginning to get expensive, but she didn't mind it. Money also seemed less important.
And so, Mary grabbed her keys off of the kitchen counter and headed on out, pulling into the drive-in of a major fast food chain. The closer she got to the microphone for ordering, the more urgent her hunger got. More desperate, more...
"Welcome to McDonough's, can I take your order?" the fuzzy voice asked.
"I'll have three double cheeseburger meals, three chicken tender meals, an extra large strawberry milkshake, three apple pies, and a dozen chocolate chip cookies," the order came out of her mouth before she fully comprehended what she was doing.
"Uh... okay, uh, drinks with that?"
"Oh, um... all Colas. All of it," Mary nodded, growing impatient. She had an inkling of what this ravenous hunger meant. And she couldn't help but feel eager. Tense.
"Alright, that's three doub..."
"Yeah, could you just get to the total so I can pay? Sorry, short on time here," Mary snapped.
"Sorry, ma'am... uh... total's fifty nine seventy three, second window."
She slipped her hand into her purse and yanked out her credit card before zipping her car around to the window, and quickly handing the cashier her card. Her toes squirmed, her fingers drummed along the steering wheel.
"Alright, it'll uh... take us a bit to get it together, if you could pull ahead, we'll have it out to you in a minute or two," the cashier said as he gave her her card back.
"Good," Mary said, and pulled her car forward.
As she sat there and waited, her pulse raced. Was it possible? Last time, the changes were triggered by food. And here she was ordering so much... was it still inside her?
As if to answer her, her cellphone rang.
"Hello?" she asked, answering tenatively.
"Mary, hey, it's Rob," came the voice on the other side of the line.
"Hi! I was just picking up some lunch, actually," she grinned. "How about you?"
"I've already had *grrnk* two lunches," his voice made Mary gasp. He grunted. He just grunted.
"Rob, are you...?"
"Could you get your lunch to go? I'd really like you to come over to my house as soon as you can. I've got a *grnk* high fenced backyard and I don't want to do this alone."
A grin spread across Mary's face. They still had it. Potions or not, it was still within them.
"Just tell me where to go, you sexy boar you."
