Paul Montinero was walking the lonely roads of the county. His Doctor had prescribed him to excercise more or go on a tight diet. Paul was getting his mid 30's love handles.
"Malstrom Road" this was a road never walked before he wondered why he'd never noticed the rusting sign, but today he's walk it's length. The scenery to the rightside of the road was open green pastures. Yet to the left was tall weeds, thistles, brambles, and brush uncut for many years.
Paul wasn't a half mile down the road when he saw the huge stone and concrete posts with iron gates of the Malstrom mansion. He stopped and stood gawlking through the iron bars at the huge building. Six large white marble coloums stood holding up the great roof. A stately drive and large ten foot tall doors opened to the wonders of the mansion.
AS Paul leaned on the iron gate it creaked and swung open. Now he wondered what it looked like inside. Walking the drive he soon stood on the front porch looking in the dusty windows. "Odd so much furniture left inside, like the people left in a hurry and never came back?" he thought outloud.
Walking over weeds and brambles he continued to peer in windows as he paced around the great building. When he at last stood on the veranda the stables and barn alured him even more.
Tripping over the thick weeds he at last stood pushing the stable door open with a creak. A nervous peek inside saw hanging leather horse tack and a dozen stalls, but nobody home. Stepping inside he looked from side to side at stalls upon stalls, clean, neat, but unused in years by the greying wood.
In a far stall the door was closed and looking over the stall rail Paul gasp at the sight of white bones of a long dead horse. Now he wanted to leave and pressing open the far end door of the stables he exited. Taking a deep breath he looked up to see the great barn before him.
A huge barn it was as he stood now so near it's place. A barn over 600 feet long and 250 wide. Looking up the mass only increased as it must be three stories tall. Odd too the building was surrounded by light green grass and no weeds what so ever. Even the building itself was clean and the red paint so bright one might have thought it recently painted.
He had to take a look inside! Paul tried this door and that but all seemed locked down tight from the inside. A walk to the rear of the great barn proved interesting when he saw the many corrals. Climbing the fence he jumped into the dusty corral.
Windows, the rear lower floor of the barn had nice clean windows. As he stepped close the twinkle of shined metal reflected the morning light. Cars, dozens of nice old cars lined a showroom like floor. Then Paul let out a gasp at the sight of a caretaker polishing the cars. The man was a man from the waist up but all horse from there down. He did have hose ears at closer view but paid no attention to the young man peering in the windows in plain sight.
Walking hunched over Paul made his was to the far end of the barn. A peering look inside saw to his horror a monster chained in the corner. A creature having the head and torso of a fat man and below that looking like a king crab. He wore a large pointed crown and his big yellow eyes starred back at Paul, giving him a real fear of the barn and this place.
