Megan stared at the ladies room as more people went inside. Finally, David and some of the others emerged, looking worried. He walked quickly over to Megan.
"David, what's going on?"
"Something's wrong, Andy's gone. I-I don't know what's happened."
"What do you mean? What he hell is going on?"
"Look.. They're calling the police. I'm going to go look for her, okay? Stay here, the police will need to talk to someone." David picks up his jacket, and heads for the exit.
"Don't worry, I'll be back."
Megan could only watch in silence as he left.
Outside, a wind picked up. David put on his jacket. He jogged down the side walk, and around the side of the building to where the shattered window was. It looked like someone had kicked up some dirt, as if they had taken off running. It appeared to go off in one direction. David run that way.
It took him down to a park, and an old, unpaved bicycle trail. One of those nature trails that went off into a wooded area. He took the path into the woods.
"ANDY??" He called out. But he heard no reply.
He ran down the path, looking about for any sign of his girlfriend. He saw a figure up ahead, a jogger. As the young woman approached, he waved for her attention. She pulled the earbuds out of her ears.
"Hi, have you seen anyone come this way at all?"
"No, not for a while. Who are you looking for?" She asked him, still jogging in place, her ponytail bobbing side to side.
"I'm looking for my girlfriend. She's maybe your age, same height."
"If I see anyone, I'll tell her you're looking for her." She says.
"Alright, thanks."
David jogged on down the trail. It hadn't occurred to him, but his girlfriend is possibly out here somewhere, completely naked. Her clothes still scattered on the floor of the restroom he left behind.
"Oh God, Andy... Please be okay. Please be okay."
His concentration was suddenly broken as he heard a woman's scream come from behind. He stopped dead in his tracks. He turned around, but he could not see anything, as the road curved. For a moment, fear pumped through his veins, just like adrenaline. What the hell was that?
