Amy thought for a bit and a sly grin crossed her lips. She had always been jealous of Lina's 5'11" height,
being only 5'3" herself. Though they were best friends, the taller girl often made fun of shorter Amy. What if
she could make Lina shorter? Like... a lot shorter?
Amy leaned in towards the old man conspiratorially. "Can you make my best friend shrink?"
The old man saw Lina walking around in the back of the store and grinned slyly, as if sharing in the plotting.
"Ah... tired of being the short one, are we?"
Amy blushed deeply under her eyes and nodded.
"And how small should we make her, young lady?" The old man was already flipping through his book. "Would you
like her to stay in proportion or simply scrunch down into herself?"
The idea of making Lina a midget was hilarious, but Amy had something else in mind. "Ah, keep her in
proportion, if you please, sir. And as for how small..." A sly grin returned to her lips, and she held up her
hands to illustrate roughly the size of a barbie doll.
The old man looked at her hands and barely blinked. "Very good. Yes, I can that. Perhaps a little change of
perspective will make your friend a little more sympathetic for people smaller than herself." He stopped on a
specific page, withdrew a wand from his cloak, and waved it briefly. "There we are."
"That's... that's it?!" Amy gasped, suddenly looking back towards where Lina had been with wide eyes. "Did...
did she...?"
"I figured you might appreciate your friend's change happening more slowly. Nothing will seem apparent now,
but by the end of the day the reduction will be complete."
"Wow! Thank you so much!" Amy grinned, giddy.
"We do have some doll clothes and whatnot in the second aisle down, if you're interested." The old man smiled
and pointed. "Hand crafted by fairies."
Amy squealed excitedly and went to go shopping for her soon to be little friend. Moments after secretly buying
a few things, Amy and Lina left the store. The old man simply smiled, shook his head, and mumbled something
about strange mortals.
