Transformation didn't work the way many people thought it did. It didn't create a super imposed image of existence over someone that a
dispelling of magic could restore someone to what they were before, nor could you 'detect' what a person's 'true' (really previous) form was by
peeling back the non-existent layer of magic 'covering up' their true form.
Weather magic turned a tree into a pile of ashes with a fireball, or a human woman into a male minotaur the truth was the same. The only way
to 'revert' someone wasn't to 'undo' the previous transformation, but to RE-transform them into a form that was like the one they had before.
And when that magic was powerful enough to effect lives, not just forms, it made re-creating what was once before nearly impossible! There
were just so many details to a person's life that getting every last one back to the way it was felt like copying the King James' Bible from
memory!
And with magic as powerful as those two bells, the old man knew he had to act fast. He quickly told his wife to close up shop for him and
quickly ran for the door. Sadly, he found a figure in a trenchcoat, sunglasses, and hat waiting directly outside for him.
"Oh no, not now." The old man groaned, "You know you REALLY could have been helpful half an hour ago!"
The man in the trench coat (if it could be called a man, it was more like a mass of shadows in clothing) spoke in a calm business like voice, "So
you are admitting that you gave two cascading transformation items to two people who had neither built up a karmic backlash, nor had
requested for a revision of their lives?"
"YES! Which is why I have to keep them from causing more random magic."
"First we are going to have to investigate to make sure you did not hand them the bells deliberately as a form of sadism towards those with no
magical experience or magical self defense. You will have to come with me."
THe old man cursed, "YOU BUREAUCRATIC MORONS!"
"Your verbal abuse shall be noted too."
Meanwhile back at the party . . ..
