It was just after lunch when the doorbell of Lina’s house rang. “I’ll get it!” Lina said. She opened the door and there stood Amy. “Oh, hi Amy! Come on in.”
“Who is it?” Lina’s mom asked.
“It’s Amy; she’s here for the sleepover.” Lina replied. “Wait.” Lina said, turning back to Amy. “Why’d you cut your hair?”
“I’ll tell you all about it in your room, come on.” Amy answered, dragging Lina up the stairs by her arm.
Amy shut and locked the door to Lina’s room. “Okay, now what’s with your hair?” Lina asked.
“First, let me ask you a question.” Amy said. “What would you say if I told you I was a fairy?”
Lina tilted her head to the side, developed a skeptical look on her face and answered. “I’d say ‘If you're a fairy, show me your wings’.”
“Alrighty, then!” Amy gleefully said as she turned her back to her friend. Her wings slowly emerged from her back. Lina’s legs gave out on her and she sat down upon her bed, hyperventilating at the sight of her best friend sprouting fairy wings. “Neat, huh?” Amy said striking a sideways pose.
“W-What happened to you?” Lina asked once she calmed down.
Amy opened her pack and pulled out the wig and the can of hairspray. “I used this hairspray on the magic wig and it cocooned me, like a caterpillar becoming a butterfly, I suppose. Anyway, the wig came off on it’s own this morning, I squeezed my way out of it and I discovered I had wings.”
“So, why organize a sleepover; couldn’t you have just paid me a visit to tell me?” Lina said knowing Amy tended to overcomplicate things, even when it was big.
“I organized a sleepover because I still have the wig and half a can of magic hairspray." So, how about it? Want to become a fairy, too?”
