Mark fell asleep and because he was drunk, there was nothing Mark could do to wake him up.
Finally, late in the morning, Mark woke up with a terrible hangover and Dan could finally talk with him. But because of the hangover, Mark was
still slow to understand.
They were interrupted by the arrival of Kat.
Kat said, "Bad doggy. Trying to escape last night."
Dan asked, "Are you punishing me by casting this spell on my friends?"
Kat said, "Of course. Is this one of your friends?"
Dan said, "Not really. Mark is twenty-two. He's the brother of a friend of mine but we don't really hang out."
Kat said, "Oh well. Last night after I realized that you escaped, I just cast a spell on all your friends. I suppose the spell interpreted the
definition of friend in the broadest sense and now several people who aren't really friends of yours are being treated like dogs just because
they were slightly friendly toward you and you had to try to escape last night. I suppose you should learn your lesson as who knows how many
people are suffering because of your misbehavior. Come along now, puppy. It's time to go home."
Kat put the lead on Dan and lead him away. Then she turned back to Mark and said, "You'd better find yourself an owner quickly. I hear that
they only keep stray dogs for two weeks and if someone doesn't own you by then, they'll destroy you. Good luck." And Kat led Dan out to her
car.
When they got home, Dan was in for another surprise. Dan's dad was naked, collared and being treated like a dog. Kat explained, "I found out
about Dad's unfaithfulness. Mom doesn't know yet but I figure she doesn't need to know. I can make sure Dad gets punished for his flirtiness.
Mom wonders where dad is and cries sometimes with worry but she thinks that we got two family pets now.
Dan now felt a little eager for the chance to talk to his dad. Maybe now the could conspire together to fix the problems that Kat caused.
