“Stay! Stay. Now lay down.” The vet tech tells you and you do tail wagging as she feeds you one of the treats she keeps in her pockets.
Watching the human you struggle with the idea of wanting to pad over to her and ask for play. But know if you move it would be seen as being bad and being told a bad dog is not something you want. As a good dog obeys the alpha as all good dogs should. Has not all the other kennel dogs said the same thing? A part of you shouts and tries to resist these canine instinctive needs for following the strongest of the pack.
The vet tech no longer even looking at you has wondered over to Ruth. “What is this thing? A werewolf?” she says aloud while putting on rubber gloves.
Watching you try to understand if this is some kind of new game. Tail wagging you think about the all the times this human has come into the kennel. Thinking of the petting you received sends your tail wagging faster.
“Lady. Lay still.”
Lady? Oh yes that’s what I am called you suddenly remember and lay your muzzle down on your fore paws as you watch the human some more. The other dogs starting to wake watch the human too. Puzzled on why the human is in the kennel they too think this break in routine is confusing. Is it time for eating they wonder.
The vet tech moves closer to Ruth as she forgets about the dogs in the room and becomes clueless about all the eyes watching her. “You’re a werewolf.” She says once more as she spreads Ruth’s hind legs and parts the fur to get a better look at the female gender. The mix of both human and canine body features both sickening her and exciting her at the same time. “This is going to make me famous!” she once more says aloud seemly having gotten into the habit of talking to herself over the years of caring for dogs who can only bark in reply to her conversation.
