'Everyone I see will slowly turn into a clown?' Jen rolled her eyes as she walked out the door into the hallway. She had no idea what Kyle had been smoking, and she decided she didn't want to know.
As she passed the bathroom Jen saw her mother Joan get out wearing her bathrobe and a towel wrapped around her head. "Oh, hi mom."
"Hello Jen," Joan replied. "Are you ready for school?" Jen nodded and continued down the hall towards the kitchen. Jen stopped. Did her mother's voice sound a little squeaky?Jen shrugged, figuring her ears had been playing tricks on her.
Joan walked into her beddroom and closed the door. She looked into her vanity mirror and frowned. Was her skin a little paler? And what was with the red in her nose and her cheeks; Joan hadn't had a single drink since she came back from the Betty Ford Center two months ago. She felt the end of her nose, it seemed slightly rounder and plumber then before. Joan giggled. She didn't know why but for some reason she felt very silly.
'The doctors told you there would be side effects to sobriety,' Joan told herself. Well she wans't going back to the bottle, drinking had nearly destroyed her marriage and almost ruined her career. Joan simply did her makeup, dried and brushed her hair, then got dressed. Looking at herself in the mirror again, Joan nodded and walked out to the garage for her car. She had just returned to her job as an executive at an advertising agency and had a big presentation today.
If Joan hadn't been in such a hurry, she might have noticed the three green hairs in her brush....
