As you look at the fairy wings, you could’ve sworn they were briefly glowing for a split-second. Suddenly, you have brief flashes of memory; putting on a dress; Megan smiling, you, hovering in midair, and the sound of a teenage girl giggling. You were that girl.
“Sure, I’d be happy to.” You say, half sincerely, half knowing that this was the only way to get answers.
“Good,” Your mother says, on her way out of the bedroom; “because she’s coming up to see you right now.”
Megan enters the room; dressed as a fairy in a pink version of the dress you had on, and closed the door. “Did you decide yet?”
“I already told Mom I’d play with you.” You reply.
“No, silly; about becoming my sister forever.” You remember this question. You said you weren’t sure, that you’d sleep on it. Megan then fling some dust onto you and then, falling asleep. You suddenly remember the whole experience. Megan’s costume fairy wings becoming real, the spell making your own fairy costume real, the joy you felt flying; then Megan’s explanation.
---
“I never had a family before. I always wanted a big sister. So the other fairies said they would lead someone here to become my big sister. Now, you’re here!”
“Wait, was this an illusion the whole time?” You asked.
“Yes,” she said. “I wanted it to feel like home for you. So, do you want to be my big sister forever?”
---
You look into her eyes, which eagerly awaited a response.
