Now about 2000 years earlier Emperor Nero had made the mistake of sending some
Christians in to face the starving lions in the Coliseum.
Pretty well all of Rome's citizens had been in attendance at that time,and were
hooting and shouting for the roaring lions to gobble up the cult members.
Alas the Divine Event happenned and the lions sat down like purring pussycats
and the cult members stared in awe as the Coliseum gates openned and the sound of Heavenly
music surrounded everyone.
Now the Christians themselves were as much paralyzed by the Divine Event as their
enemies,and just stood there,except for Joshua the Blasphemer,who'd just joined this
newfangled cult to rob little old ladies of their purses.
Joshua was a practical man,saw the lions,the open gates,the paralyzed folk
and realized they aught to make a run for it.
Hence when the cult leader started babbling in a foreign voice,Joshua
took action.He found a nearby coil of rope,left over from some earlier play where
the Coliseum had been flooded ,galleys floated in it and escaped slaves took
part in a mock "fight to the finish" sea battle
and roped up the other members of the cult and began dragging the entranced folk toward
the open gates and the path to freedom.
After he'd gotten the christians outside and they were starting to regain their
balance,he dashed inside,waved to the entranced crowds on the seats,shouted
"That's all folks" and ran outside and dissappeared down the streets of Rome
to his freedom.
Alas 'He' was angry at Joshua the Blaspher and cursed him.
As Joshua was running down the streets he suddenly found himself pitching forward and
running on all fours as scales erupted from his skin.He could feel his hind legs
suddenly lifting up as they lengthened and sprouted talons.
As his body grew in size his clothes tore off what to a observer was a man
turning into a huge western dragon.
Joshua just managed to get out of the alleyway as his wings burst out of his thickening
scaly back,his tail pushed out,his neck pushed forward and his head reshaped
into that of a horned crocadillian shape.
The stunned dragon stared in shock down at the city walls,as the true import
of his size sank in.
Joshua the Dragon fell back on his haunches,tried to cry,but all that
escaped his throat was a shrieking roar.
Then a twister came down from above ,lifted up the writhing dragon and
carried it high up up and away.
It carried the dragon through time and space,and as it did so the dragons memories of its
human life faded away,and it was just a nasty vicious greedy huge dragon that was
deposited on the front lawn beside Patty and Millie's house.
The monster stared through the upper floor kitchen window at the two wriggling mermaids,
and just like a fish is attracked to a wriggling worm,the dragon began to drool
at the sight of its first meal as a dragon.
The end was swift,that giant head came smashing through the glass and first snatched up Millie,who
shrieked as she died.The monster gobbled up the food.
By this point Patty was flopping on the kitchen floor,trying to put
that useless fish tail to better use,but her end came just as swiftly.
So it was that Patty and Millie's parents came home that evening to find a
contented well fed dragon on the lawn beside the house,with only bits of
their childrens clothing and jewellry to indicate their ghastly fate.
