You feel that you are on the verge of tears but you do your best to hold them back as you head torwards the office. Heading in through the office door you place the note down in front of the receptionist without talking and avoid her gaze as you're still trying to hold back your tears. After a few seconds she tells you that the note is fine and you may leave. You head outside the front of the school to see the rest of the scientists packing their equipment away into vans. You look around to see if any other students are around and after a few glances you notice a younger boy wearing a girl's uniform crying underneath a large tree.
"Poor girl." You mutter to yourself as you stare at the new boy. After a few seconds unsure what do you decide to walk over to him to see how hes doing. You're about to ask the kid if hes alright when suddenly you recognize him. While his face has become more masculine and gained animal features it is still recognisable as roughly the same person if not their family and his eyes, hair colour and clothing tell you instantly that this boy was your little sister. "Oh shit, Casey!" you yell as grab the sobbing boy in a hug.
"J-jake?" He asks between sobs.
"Yeah..." You respond quietly trying to hold back your own emotions for his sake.
"Jake I don't want to be a boy!" He sobs as he pulls himself tighter into your hug.
"I know Casey... I know..." You respond quietly as you hold your crying sister/brother. The two of you sit there in silence holding each other until his tears finally dry up.
"Thanks Jake." Your brother eventually breaks the silence. "I'm sorry, you must be upset too."
"Hey it's okay, it's what big sisters are for right?" You respond jokingly with a smile trying to make light of your crappy situation to keep your brother feeling okay.
"Hey, you're a doggy girl!" Your brother suddenly responds. For the first time since you met up with him you take a proper look and realize what animal he is.
"Hey wait, you're the catboy the nurse mentioned..."
"Yeah, I guess we both turned out wrong huh?" He responds with a sudden curiosity in his voice.
"Yeah, apparently we were the only ones too."
"I wonder what that's about..." He trails off. "So what are you going to do now?" He asks you suddenly.
You suddenly feel sick in the stomach when you remember that one or both of your parents may have signed you up for this agaisnt your will. "I'm going to talk to mum... I'm not sure what I'll say yet..." You try to hold back the anger you suddenly feel flaring up in you as you head torwards your house.
