After looking at the various dogs on offer, Kevin's eyes seemed to be drawn to the same area after each scan of the room. Walking over to the area yielded the view of a large German Shepherd, a shaggy brown coat of fur with a large black patch on its back staring longingly out of its enclosure. At that instant, Kevin's eyes met with the dogs and he felt a spark travel through his body. He knew that this was the dog he wanted.
"Say, what's this dog?" He enquired, hoping to sound blase to the clerk.
"Oh that? That's a German Shepherd bitch we've had here for a couple of weeks, poor girl, we can't seem to sell her, no-one seems to take a second glance at her when they look around. You thinking of taking her?"
"Well, she seems like a good dog to me. Would you mind if I had a closer look?" Kevin enquired, his heart starting to race at the thought of this unknown dog.
"Sure, I'll just open the door and you go get yourself acquainted. I need to go see this young lady over here." He replied, gesticluating over to the other end of the shop where a petite, red-haired woman stood patiently waiting for service.
Then he proceeded to open the glass door. He motioned towards it with his hand and Kevin, taking the hint, slid past it into the enclosure. Approaching the dog, he held out his hand for her to sniff, thinking this may be a good way to introduce himself and she moved her nose towards it. Closer and closer until it made contact.
Then nothing was the same.
