Finally, after what seems like hours the noise stops and you're able to fall asleep.
The next morning you wake up refreshed. If not for the fact that the flashlight was sitting on the table next to your bed, you would have thought all of the previous day's events were a dream. There's no way you could dream up anything that crazy though.
Further proof comes when there's a knock on your door, followed by a deep male voice, "You up hon? I'm making pancakes for breakfast."
The voice isn't your dad, who, looking at the time, had left for work an hour ago, instead it's the man you transformed your mom into.
"In a minute ...umm...mom-uh...Tony," you stammer, not quite sure what to call your mom now that she's a man.
He responds with deep, jovial laughter, "Just because you're older and away at college most of the year doesn't mean you have to start calling me Tony. You always called me mom when you were little. Your dad and I always thought it was cute."
Still laughing, he goes back to the kitchen to cook breakfast for you and your sister.
You look at the flashlight again and let out a nervous little laugh. Breakfast is sure going to be interesting.
Just to be safe you hide the flashlight in your sock drawer after you get dressed, then head to the kitchen for breakfast.
Your six year old sister, Katie, is standing on a chair next to the muscular man that your mom has become, helping him mix the batter for the pancakes. Smiling, you sit down to watch.
"Now add the milk and give it a good stir," your male mom says, giving your sister a pat on the head, "That's good."
Other than being a man, your mom is acting the same as ever, which is as strange as it is amusing.
"Would you mind setting the table?" your mom asks as he starts to pour the batter into the frying pan.
"No problem," you do as asked, trying not to stare.
When the pancakes are all done the three of you sit down at the table to eat, at which point you notice the first difference from your mom's normal breakfast routine. Instead of having the usual glass of orange juice, he's having a protein shake, which sort of makes sense. Looking at how muscular he is, it's obvious that he works out a lot.
"So, how was your day yesterday? Things boring for you now that you're home from college for the summer?" he asks between bites of pancake.
"I wouldn't say things are boring," you answer honestly, "I went to the mall and hung out with Gene yesterday."
Your male mom nods, "Does he still dress like a girl?"
"Yeah," you blush, recalling how you changed him nearly completely into a super hot babe.
This earns a laugh from your mom, "I thought you and Stacy were an item."
"We are," you say quickly, "Gene's going out with Melissa now. Anyway, after he left I ended up bumping into Stacy and some of her friends and we hung out for a while. We ended up hanging out at Megan's for a bit until you called me."
"You really do well with the ladies, don't you?" your mom laughs, winking at you.
Not wanting to be left out of the conversation, Katie chimes in, "I like Gene. He dresses pretty."
This makes both you and your mom laugh, though you suspect for different reasons. Undeterred Katie continues, "I want to be pretty like him when I get older."
"You don't want to be big and strong like me?" your mom laughs, flexing his muscles as he does so.
"That's right," you add, playing along and thinking of the flashlight, "You could always be like mom when you grow up."
Katie's eyes go wide, "Could I?"
You can't tell if the thought has her curious or frightened, but the look on your mom's face encourages you to keep playing along, "Yup, when I was little I was just like you."
"You...you were a little girl?" she stammers.
"That's right," your mom picks up with a smile, "Your brother decided that he wanted to be a boy just like me and your dad, so he grew up to be one."
"How does that work?" she asks, still not quite believing.
"I asked mom to have my hair cut short and let me dress in boy's cloths, then I started hanging out with boys and playing sports," you explain as your mom fights back laughter.
"What about Gene?" Katie says quickly, trying to catch you in your lie.
"Well..." you start, not sure what to say.
"He looks like that because he decided to be a girl," your mom says quickly, saving your story, "He didn't play sports, let his hair grow long and started doing things like playing dress-up and house."
Katie's eyes went wide at this, "Is it really that easy?"
Your mom nods solemnly, "Sure. In fact your dad and I were thinking that it would be nice to have another boy in the family. Next weekend we were going to give you a haircut and take you to the mall to get boy's cloths? You'd like that, wouldn't you?"
"No!" Katie shakes her head violently, "I don't want to be a boy!"
Realizing that the two of you have taken the joke too far, your mom rushed to comfort your sister, "Oh honey, your brother and I were just joking."
He picks her up in his arms and hugs her, "You're a little girl and you're going to stay one."
"Promise?" she asks.
"Promise," you and your mom say at the same time.
Once Katie calms down, your mom puts her down.
Katie still looks upset, but your mom knows just how to remedy it.
"I'll take you to the park just as soon as you brush your teeth," as Katie runs to the bathroom he turns to you, "You don't mind cleaning up while we're out, do you?"
"Not at all," you answer honestly, already thinking of what you can do with the time to yourself.
