The girls dormitory lay on the side of Mount Pilatus of course,
and we girls ( and one girl-boy? ) were cut off from the rest of the
world.
Hell,I didn't even know where or when I was.
So it was a bit of a shock for us all when Janice explained her Uncle Jim
was really THE Jim Morrison of that cool new rock band The Doors.
My mind raced frantically as I tried to recall what I could of Rock n Rolls
history.
With dread I realized I could be in the 1960's or early 1970 (?)
My dread only was confirmed when another of the girls got smuggled in a
brand new General Electric Seabreeze radio in pieces in her Red Cross POW
Care packages.
The glass tubes in the thing were a dead giveaway I wasn't
going to be using a IBM PC,let alone the internet ,any time soon.
As the tube radio was turned on for the first time ,I listened in horror as
Premier Kruschev pounded his shoe on the mike as he made his speech about
making sure the Americans would soon eat Communist dust.
Then came the Voice of America broadcasts of Andy Griffith and Opie
and I knew I could kiss goodbye to thoughts of being a vixen.
Hell, the furry movement wasn't even a twinle in the furries grandparents eyes yet...
