Jake was a very quiet person. Few people even noticed him. Somehow, Jake could be in a room and people would do things as if Jake wasn't
there. So it didn't surprise Jake to witness the entire transformation of Ryan into a jockstrap. Of course, Jake had orchestrated the whole thing.
Jake had the magic. But Jake wasn't the kind of person who liked to flaunt his magic. He preferred to stay in the shadows and play with the lives
of others to entertain himself. Jake had cast a spell upon himself a long time ago to cause people to ignore him. It wasn't an invisibility spell. If
Jake wanted to, Jake could still talk to people and people would see him and talk to him. But if Jake didn't want to, which was most of the time,
all he had to do was keep his mouth shut and everyone would act like he wasn't there. He was sitting right next to Vinnie so he could get a
close up view of the transformation but Vinnie didn't even notice being touched by Jake.
There was a part of Jake that wished he could wear Ryan the jock strap. But that pleasure wouldn't last long and then he'd have to figure out
how to cover up Ryan's disappearance. He would have much more fun watching everyone else react to his game without anyone even knowing
that he was involved. Now Vinnie will wonder if he changed Ryan and try to figure out how to change him back but Jake would keep Vinnie
confused, preventing him from changing Ryan back unless Jake wanted it to happen. Meanwhile, everyone from Horst and Carter to Stacy would
focus all their attention on Vinnie.
Throughout P.E. Vinnie could hear the thoughts of Ryan and Ryan could hear the thoughts of Vinnie. (This was another aspect of Jake's power
as he was also listening but not letting either become aware of Jake's presence.) Vinnie and Ryan reconciled and they were both sorry for the
antagonism. When they got to the locker, Vinnie tried to change Ryan back but he couldn't. Not knowing what to do, Vinnie simply wore Ryan
home.
Ryan stayed a jock strap for weeks. Out of kindness, Vinnie wore Ryan more often because it was better than sitting in a laundry hamper doing
nothing all day. After weeks of being a jock strap, Ryan got used to it. He used his mental link with Vinnie so that he would have someone to
talk to and he gave Vinnie pointers on becoming more athletic and popular. Meanwhile, Ryan was also becoming more intelligent simply
because he had nothing better to do than to listen to Vinnie's more intellectual pursuits.
Ryan found that he could move slightly and took to exercising while Vinnie wore him. Ryan got to the point where he looked forward to sliding
up Vinnie's legs. Ryan and Vinnie became comfortable with being intimate and Ryan would even massage Vinnie. Ryan enjoyed his time in the
washing machine as well.
Meanwhile, everyone was wondering where Ryan disappeared. Vinnie had to threaten Carter and Horst to keep them quiet and Ryan gave Vinnie
pointers on how to handle Carter and Horst. Although Vinnie wasn't able to change Ryan back, Vinnie, Carter, Horst, and Ryan were all
convinced that is was magic that Vinnie performed and all four of them were afraid of Vinnie's uncontrolled magic.
Vinnie talked to his grandma about the gold medal but she seemed confused too. Sometimes she spoke as if the medal had magic powers and
other times she spoke as if magic was a ridiculous thing to believe in. Vinnie couldn't get a clear answer from her.
So only a handful of people knew where Ryan was and to everyone else, Ryan had disappeared without a trace.
