"Johnson, start the machine"
It was a presentation to the military of a special space laser that could pinpoint a soldier and increase his
physical and mental fitness in battle. The lab boys were running around like nutters trying to make it work,
and now they were finally testing it. The laser fired up and was ready to shoot. Suddenly alarm bells blared
and lights flashed and the computer screens flickered. They read:
Warning
Aiming device malfunction
New Coordinates
.................
Another one said:
Warning
Physical/Mental Regulation device inactive
Effects of laser unpredictable
The screen shut off before the coordinates could be found out. The scientists quickly pulled up a map and
triangulated the laser position. It pointed to a paintball course in the UK...
I ducked to the crowd as several paintballs whizzed past my head. I returned fire and managed to shoot one
person, who lazily walked off the grounds. I ran to cover with my cousin who was so scared he almost shot me!
"Shit! We're getting hammered!" He shouted. I just laughed and picked off two more players. I heard a slight
buzzing and looked up to see what it was. I saw a bright green light coming closer. I looked for my cousin but
he had run to another bit of cover. The light hit me and I felt myself float into the sky slightly. I looked
down and my feet, and saw them blocked my my chest, which was now layered with thick muscle. I looked at my
arms, and watched as they expanded. I put one arm up and tensed it. It grew to the size of bowling balls and
split the once big overalls I was wearing. I bent over my broadening shoulders and saw my stomach covered by
thick cobblestone abs which formed a steel 10 pack. I noticed that I was now touching the ground and that only
the leg section of my overalls stayed on.
I felt my newfound muscles and noticed that everyone was staring at me. I picked up my gun and shot someone to
signalise that we should play on...
