"Yes, students you are witnessing history in the making. This rare creature was thought to be a myth, just a varient on the two headed lizard, if anything. But thanks to Dr. Dustin's expedition to the hinterlands of Eurasia, we have the only known specimen of a hydra in captivity. It is unique, truly a separate species according to our extensive genetic testing, and best of all our hermaphroditic specimen appears to be pregnant," droned the zoo guide.
The high school students oohed and awed.
Ty thought, Doctor Dustin? He hadn't done that, but the magic had filled in the blank, and transformed the wizard Dustin into a biologist to explain the sudden appearance of a mythic monster in the real world.
"Unlike the hydra of myth, this apparently full grown specimen is little larger than the domestic sheep dog. Either the creature evolved into a smaller creature of the years, or the one of legend grew larger in the years of re-telling the tale. Please stay back from the glass, the beast when aroused will expel a venomous acidic liquid not unlike butane, and exposed to air it will frequently burst into flame. Perhaps all those stories about fire breathing dragons were true!" Laughter ensues.
"Oooh, look it's laying its egg," cooed Ginger.
Ty had taken away Mike, Christine, Joe and Brian's memories, as well as their ability to make human speech. With all their friends from school looking on, Ty knew that it was time to restore the quartet's human memories at least for a while. He adjusted the reality of his walkman to make it a dragon translator, so he could understand their reactions.
Suddenly, the four dragon heads blinked in horror their human memories flooded back into their minds, as their giant school chums watched, and a heavy hard egg half protruded out their unified backside.
