After around nine minutes, the bathroom door opens and Kendra quickly hides behind her illusory self. The girl lightly knocks on the stall door and says, “Kendra, you in there?” It was Millie, Kendra’s best friend since Kindergarten and a fellow student in her English Lit class.
Kendra placed her hand over her throat and magically altered her voice before replying, “Yeah, it’s me.”
“The teacher wanted me to check on you. How’s it going in there?”
“Oh, uh, just fine Millie. It won’t be much longer.” Kendra remained behind her doppelganger, her wings folded and leaning on the cold pipe behind her, waiting for Millie to leave or enter a stall. As much as Kendra wanted to tell Millie that she was a fairy, there was no way for her to know how she’d react.
Now, Millie was quite the prankster and, from time to time, she would pull tricks on Kendra. Oh, Kendra would get her back just as often, too having a mischievous side of her own; but for now, Millie knew that the latch on Kendra’s stall was quite loose and wouldn’t take much to get it to open. She pushed hard on the stall door with her hand, forced it open and screamed like a banshee.
The sudden shock caused Kendra to lose control of her spells. She let out a fairy-pitched shriek and her wings flared out just as her illusion dissipated. What remained for Millie to see was a terrified nine-inch tall Kendra with pointed ears, antennae and sparkling wings. Kendra had the worst feeling of dread she’d ever felt as she awaited Millie’s reaction.
“Kendra,” Millie whispered before entering the stall and closing the door, “you’re a fairy, too?”
Kendra squeaked before re-applying the voice spell. “Too?”
Millie began shrinking just as Kendra does when she transforms. She quickly reaches a foot tall before her ears elongate, antennae spring from her forehead and bright violet wings sprout from her back. The mass of clothing surrounding her glows and wrap around her body, forming a fairy-sized version of the clothing she had on. Millie flies up to Kendra.
“You got to teach me that.” Kendra says pointing at Millie’s clothes. The cell phone timer went off. “We should talk after school Millie, I think we both have questions about this.” The two returned to human form and, after Kendra put her regular clothes back on, headed back to class.
