In the morning, you wake first to the gentle lapping of the sea waves – shivering now that you are lacking fur. Shaking Caroline awake, you rub your eyes and greet Topaz and Chen, as they pop their heads out of the sea. You and Caroline walk nakedly over to them.
“Morning! Are you two okay?” you ask.
Chen is grinning like an excited kid. “Definitely!” He pulls himself onto the low rocks at the tide’s edge, and reveals that not only is he naked, he is also fish-tailed and scaled from the waist down. “I’m a merman now. For life!”
Caroline presses herself against you, for warmth. She smiles at the other couple. “You both had a good night, then?” she asks.
“Certainly,” Topaz gushes, as she pulls herself onto the rocks and hugs her new partner. “Chen is all the merman a mermaid like me could ask for!”
“We’re happy for you both! How were you transformed, Chen?” you ask.
“Well…” He winks at you. “It basically happened, via intercourse. That, and Topaz’s magic too.”
“Ah…,” Caroline responds. “So how do Neil and I join you? I’m not sharing Neil, Topaz. And I’m a one-man girl werewolf.”
“And I’m a one-woman boy werewolf, for that matter,” you add, smiling.
Topaz isn’t fazed by your words. “No problem! Now that my energies have been replenished by returning to the sea, I can use my magic to also change you both into my kindred. This time, the transformation will be different. And it will be permanent. So…, are you ready?”
Caroline frowns a little. “Do merfolk ever get cold, or get wrinkly skin from being underwater too long?” she asks, making you laugh.
Topaz shakes her head. “No. We merfolk are magically-enchanted beings!”
“Then we are ready. Please change us into your kind!” Caroline responds, holding your hand as she exchanges a smile with you.
Topaz urges you both to kneel next to her. Doing so, the mermaid lays a hand each on you and Caroline and mutters an incantation. A blue glow radiates through you and your mate, then disappears. Topaz then points to the next bay of the island. “All you need to do now is to trigger the transformation in each other. That bay is the ideal place for you two to begin your new life!”
“What do we have to do?” you ask her.
The blond-haired mermaid presses herself up against Chen, and smiles. “You can surely guess? Do not mind us. We will look the other way.”
“Right…” You turn to Caroline, and extend your hand to her. “Do I have your permission to treat you as a lady, Caroline?”
“Oh, yes – of course! If you don’t mind trading in your legs in the process,” Caroline giggles.
“Legs? Where we’re going, we don’t need legs!” you smirk.
Hand-in-hand, you and your mate jump into the bay, which is deep enough for you two to stand in with the water at waist-height. You tickle Caroline’s freckles, then get started – holding each other as you exchange hungry kisses...

“Excellent! Let us go home to the village of my people.” Topaz smiles widely at the three of you. “Your people as well, now.”
And so you do. As merfolk, you, Caroline, and Chen literally take to life under the waves, as ducks take to water. You become expert, acrobat-like swimmers – and make new friends with the merfolk school, accepting their culture and more harmonious way of life. The dolphins are great company, too. Although you and Caroline wish you could have had some gradual closure with regard to your lives on land – neither of you regret the loss of your legs, or becoming merman and mermaid. You are both special now – even more than you were before as a mated werewolf couple. The pair of you agree not to have children (you do not wish to pass on the werewolf condition to other merfolk in any way). But the two of you do what you can to help the survival of your new kin. Amongst food-hunting and other things, Caroline and yourself begin to learn the ways of merfolk magic - so that you can help neutralise the pollution caused by the landfolk.
And on the nights of the full moon, each month, you and Caroline head for a deserted cave on the sea floor, far away from the mer-village – in order to change into your half-wolf, half-fish forms. There’s plenty of sea life to hunt, and you and Caroline will never tire of the other’s company. You are a lovingly devoted couple – and the two of you will be together for many happy years to come, in the beauty of the ocean that is now your world to explore.
