“Come here. Come here Robert!” Victoria calls with a sing-song voice as she opens the kennel door. Both of the puppies immediately rush out of the kennel, the alpha male chases Robert playfully. Pretending that he’s chasing a prey. “I said come here Robert!” Victoria repeats herself only this time with a stronger tone of voice. Both of the puppies stop and look at her. She gets down on her haunches and calls once more “Yes, Robert come here” Robert seems to react to his former name… he stops himself as the other puppy walks to greet Victoria, beginning to understand that even if Robert sounds like his name, it is not. Sarah quickly walks up to Robert and pulls a squeaky toy, a rubber duck, out of her pocket. Robert sniffs it a few times and then he tries to snatch it out of her hand. But as Sarah refuses to let go of the toy, Robert tries furiously to make her let go of his “kill”.
Victoria picks up the puppy and holds him in her arms and begins to pet him. Soon he’s in a state of total calmness and enjoys the attention she gives to him. She seats herself on one of the chairs in the room and puts the puppy in her lap. Using her long nails she begins to scratch his head. As he closes his eyes, opens his mouth and almost pant with content she begins to move down the neck. Suddenly she grabs his neck scruff and quickly injects the syringe with the canine to human serum. A yelp escapes from his muzzle and he wriggle for a few seconds in protest. “There! That wasn’t so bad, now wasn’t it?” Victoria asks and scratches him underneath the muzzle, then putting him back on the floor. Sarah gives Victoria a satisfied smile and this makes Victoria feel good again, knowing that she has pleased her boss.
“How long does it take to bath a dog!? What’s taking so long?” Robert’s father asks impatiently, not really expecting an answer. “I wonder where Robert went?” His wife asks while staring at the lone Shetland sheepdog in one of the kennels. “Have you noticed how all the dogs are staring at us? Do you think that they can understand what we’re saying?” Her husband sighs. “Don’t be silly dear… They’re just stupid animals…” She tilts her head slightly “There’s something strange about them… but I can’t put my finger on it” She says to herself, feeling slightly puzzled.
