We sat in front of the TV for a minute, then two minutes, then five minutes. After ten minutes, Mark started to become both confused and irritated. "What the hell, man? I made everyone woman in the country pee at the same time. And it's not even on the world news?"
"Well, maybe not everyone in the country was affected, you know." I pointed out.
Mark turned towards me. "What? What are you talking about? That was part of the wish I made."
"Yeah, but maybe the ring has a range of only a few miles? It probably only affected the women in town and some of the outskirts."
"Well, that's stupid," Mark said. "Isn't there some way of extending the range? Maybe to the whole planet?"
"Mark, maybe it's better if we don't. I mean, there's plenty of people in town to use the stone on. We don't need to change everyone in the world."
The moment I said these words, I realized that I might have made a mistake. It was clear that Mark was only interested in making wishes on a grand scale, and making wishes that would humiliate or even harm people in some way. Telling him to think small might have not been the best course of action. And right now, Mark was the one wearing the wishing ring.
