Josh had pulled up to the house and told Dan and his body mate to go ahead, because he had to help Kyle. Once they were all inside, they gathered in the living room. Dan and Alex sat down on the couch, and Josh walked with Kyle to the recliner, before taking a seat on the coffee table, facing the conjoined pair. Josh spoke first, mainly to Dan, "Are you ok? Are you hurt or anything?"
"My head hurts a bit," Dan sighed, "But other than this..."
"What the hell is going on?!" Alex interrupted, with a yell, "Why the fuck am I... like this?!"
"For crying out loud! I already told you!" Dan turned and screamed in Alex's face, "It's because of these chains!"
"You don't need to yell, I'm right here!"
"Oh, trust me I know..." Dan glared at Alex. Alex retorted, but shoving Dan, who, in turn shoved him back.
"Fuck you!" Alex had to look the other way.
"Hey!" Josh snapped, "Don't talk to him like that!"
"Bite me."
Josh's eyes flickered with anger, and for a moment, he forgot Dan and Alex were combined. He leaned forward and punched them in the gut. They both bent over and clutched at their stomach, Dan looked up at Josh, and could barely speak, "Josh, what the hell?"
Josh came back to himself and suddenly realized what he had done, "Crap! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" He put his hand on Dan's shoulder, and gripped it firmly. "I-I just... lost it."
Dan and Alex seemed to recover from the blow, and sat up. Alex's face was twisted with anger still, "So how the hell do we get apart?"
Josh glared at him and shook his head. He held out his hand, "Give me your half of the chain, and then you'll be free to go about your miserable life."
Alex couldn't hand over his chain fast enough, but before Josh could slip it over his head, Dan stopped him. "Josh wait!" Everyone except Alex, who had glared, looked over at Dan. "Josh... I..." Dan was struggling to find what he wanted to say, "It was great and everything being stuck together. But after all this." Dan pointed at Alex, and didn't bother trying to hide it, "I sort of need some... alone time." Josh tried his best not to look hurt, even though the words did sting. The guilt he had felt before had returned but now it was worse.
Before anyone else could speak, Kyle lifted himself, and hopped over to where everyone else was sitting. He stood to the right of Josh, balancing on his right foot to keep pressure of his left. He bent down to Dan with an open hand, "I'll take your half."
"Uh, are you sure?" Dan asked Kyle, but his eyes were looking at Josh for any sign to say 'no'. Josh took a deep breathe and nodded slowly. Dan hesitated for another minute, then handed his chain to Kyle. The two brothers looked at each other, and put the chains on at the same time. In a moment, Alex and Dan had split apart, leaving Josh and Kyle re-conjoined. Alex jumped off the couch, and ran from the house without a word. Dan stood up and looked at the two headed brothers, "Are you two going to be ok like that? Or should I hang around."
"We'll be fine Dan," Josh said quietly, unable to shake the guilt. He forced a smile, and Dan did the same. They gave each other a quick hug, and exchanged a goodbye before Dan left. Leaving Josh and Kyle alone together.
