It is a cold still morning with a vague mist all about. You can feel the chill in the air but it doesn't feel the same way the cold did when you were human. It's not uncomfortable the way it was, it's simple a matter of fact. You walk about in the quiet of the morning. It surprises you that you know where everything is, within a certain radius anyway. There is a fairy ring to your left that holds much magical power. You know it's there even before you see it. Visiting it you find you can actually see the magic it holds. You reach out and touch it and it seeps into your hand and arm. You can feel it's power within you.
Stopping to pick up a dead oak leaf you channel the energy into it causing it to turn green once again. You place it in your hair causing it to root there. You smile at this. With concentration you find you can create cause more leaves to grow from your hair creating almost a small crown. You look inside the fairy ring and you see a pile of clothing someone left behind quite some time ago it seems. It stirs something in you, a memory. Dimly you realize that you are standing nude in the forest. You use your magic to form a gown of leaves. Whatever stirred in you fades. You decide it must have just been that you were nude.
You wander about the forest, seeing what else you can do. You find that you can use your magic to move the plants and trees. Your control over them isn't as strong as with your own tree, but you can still manage it. You can cause small plants to spring from the ground if you wish, and with with practice you can even cause them to grow where they shouldn't. Mischievously, you decide to cause a small flower to grow from the back of a young doe you encounter.
The wildlife do not fear you as they once did. You find they can even communicate to you certain ideas, like what visitors they've seen in the woods and such. You have no direct control over them, but you find that after time and practice you can turn them into trees or bushes and such and back again. As the months pass you often do this too wounded or dying animals to spare them pain. Occasionally you find that you can turn them back to their old forms and they will walk away healthy. Occasionally though, you find that their change is irreversible.
You spend months practicing. You find you can change any organic form into plant life. You can move and even communicate with some the enchanted plants of the forest, the ones that are sentient either through magic or through having once been human. You occasionally see humans, but something keeps you from using your powers on them. Some sort of self restraint. You also quickly learn not to stray too far from the tree you bonded with, which has become both your home and in many ways your greatest friend.
As summer moves into fall you find that your powers start weakening, and by winter you know instinctively that you'll have to retreat into your tree to hibernate. As the first snow begins to fall you pull into your tree to sleep until spring. As you do you have odd dreams of yourself as a human, doing human things. When spring comes you emerge fresh and strong into your forest.
