...When there was a loud crash from the closet. Kyle and Josh froze, and stared at where the sound had come from. They could hear someone cursing and making noise from behind the door. If someone had gotten into Kyle's closet, they would have seen the brothers joined body, so Kyle didn't see the point in hiding. "Who's there?!"
"Ah, calm down will you, it's just me!" After some thrashing, the door opened and Mr. Smith walked out, "Hello boys! Good to see ya!"
"YOU!" Josh held his fist up and glared at him, "What the hell are you doing here?!"
"Wow, someone's a little touchy..." Mr. Smith winked at Kyle, "But his whole half is touching yours after all!"
"No really... Why the hell are you here?" Kyle repeated, with the same tone as Josh. "Have you come to give us another one of your gifts?"
"Boys, boys, boys, you still don't see it as that yet?" Mr. smith had taken to walking around Kyle's room, examining his night stand, and anything else that seemed to catch his attention. "The two of you have finally started to get along right?" Kyle and Josh let the question hang in the air and remained silent. Mr. Smith rolled his eyes and shook his head. "That's very disappointing." He then snapped his fingers, "If you'd like, I could take it back! All though, it would mean reversing time, so that none of this..." He pointed to where the brothers stood, "Would have happened."
Josh's eyes seem to flicker and he turned to look at Kyle. Kyle could feel his gaze, but refused to meet it. He was thinking about everything that had happened. If this whole mess hadn't started, he never would have gotten stuck to Jake, or later on, Kevin. Mr. Smith leaned towards them with a smile, "Ah, you're probably wondering about Kevin and Jake, aren't you?" Kyle looked up, a bit surprised. "What?! You didn't think I didn't know about them did you? I've been watching this whole time!"
"What?!" Josh huffed, making his fist shake.
"Yup! Seen it all. Jake, Kevin, what you put Dan through... All of it!" Mr. Smith had a big grin on his face. Josh went quiet at the mention of Dan, the feelings of guilt seeping up again. "It's been rather entertaining to say the least!" He went and sat on Kyle's couch, butting his arms behind his head, and crossing his feet on the table.
"Well I'm glad you find this all so funny." Kyle sat himself and Josh on the bed. He had the feeling Josh wasn't going to add anymore to the conversation.
Mr. Smith looked over at the boys with his big grin, "I do! But you still didn't answer me, do you need more time? I could come back. In a few hours? Tomorrow? Maybe next week? Or next year? Or..."
"No." Kyle said evenly, making the grin on Mr. Smith's face shrink. He gave Kyle a look that implied he was waiting for an explanation, "No, we'll keep it, and keep things the way they are."
"Are you sure?" Mr. Smith wasn't grinning anymore, and in fact seem to be seriously asking, "Kyle... are you absolutely sure?"
Kyle and Josh looked at each other, and without speaking Kyle turned back to Mr. Smith, "Yes. It's like you said, everything would change. I wouldn't know Jake, which means I would have never meet Kevin. Me and Josh... Well... we're slowly working through this together. So no, I want to keep things like this."
"And what about happened with Dan and Alex?" Mr. Smith was looking at Josh with this question.
"I'm ok with it." Josh lowered his head and took a deep breathe before looking up again. "I got to fused to my best friend." Josh smiled, "There was a small bump in the road, but I'll follow it to the end."
Kyle gave Josh a funny look, "Wow, Mr. Poetic over here..." Josh gave Kyle a playful punch in the arm. They both looked at Mr. Smith and waited for him to say something.
He was smiling. Not in the strange grinning way as before, but a genuine smile, "I'm glad to hear that. Really." He stood up and dusted his hands off on each other, "Than I think my work here is done. I'm gonna leave you guys be, but remember. I am watching, so if you ever need help, just call for me, and I'll show up as soon as I can."
"Based on where the nearest closet is?" Josh mockingly joked, and they all laughed. Mr. Smith tipping an imaginary hat, and went back into Kyle's closet. A white light could be seen at the bottom of the door, but quickly faded.
"So, you'd really rather be stuck to me?" Kyle asked.
"I know what it's like to be stuck to your best friend." Josh started taking of their pants again, "Doesn't seem fair to take Kevin away from you all together." Kyle looked over with a small smile. He gently put his arm around themselves in a self hug. "Oh man, get off me!"
"I can't! We're fused together!"
"Crap! Bring him back! Get me away from you!" Josh pretended to push on Kyle, then looked around up at the ceiling, and waved his hand around "We're only kidding!" Kyle chuckled, and helped Josh take their pants off.
