"C'mon, Jack," said Nate, patting Jack on the shoulder as he ran up to take the chain from Tom.
Jack followed, still staring at the newly-joined Tomley.
Nate grabbed the chain from Tom and it flashed as it split apart again. Nate caught the second half and tossed it to Jack, who caught it automatically.
Nate slipped his half of the chain on quickly. "C'mon, c'mon!" he yelled, gesturing to Jack while Jack hesitated, before finally just grabbing the chain from him and yanking it over his head.
The chain flashed and the friends were conjoined instantly. Their heads turned to look at each other. Jack seemed to finally wake up.
He grinned at Nate. "Sweet!" they chorused, high-fiving.
"Hey, Nack!" called Cayrick. "Get over here!"
Nate and Jack darted out on the court, dodging Tomley, snagging the ball and shooting like they'd always been two-headed. The chain fell from their necks and slid to the edge of the court.
Meanwhile, Officers Delancey and Essex, following a string of disturbance reports, came to check out the crowd at the courts.
"What's up with those kids?"
"They look... are they wearing costumes?"
"Those aren't---"
"What the---"
The crowd parted to let them up to edge of the court, where they stared, shocked, at the four two-headed kids playing ball.
Delancey noticed a glint on the ground in front of them. Not taking his eyes off the kids, he knelt down and picked up one half of the chain. "What's this?"
Essex, barely able to tear his unbelieving eyes away, turned and saw the chain in Delancey's hand. Then he noticed the other half of the chain on the ground, and he knelt down and pick it up. "Just some necklace."
