Of course,Marcus was operating on the wrong theory about how the Amulet worked.The
Amulet at its simplet level converted any matter,be it human ,food,water or anything
else within its range,into magical mythical dragon matter.At a nine to one ratio.
Which explained why he'd just lost 80 pounds of human matter and
gained ~ .89 pounds worth of dragon horns and ears.
It also explained why he was famished and hungry,the Amulet would consume
him alive unless he ate and ate and ate to meet that 9/1 demand.
Now,as a added complication,he had .89 pounds worth of horn and ears that had a
draconic metabolic demand for stuff,a much higher demand then a humans ear and
(horns ) would have.
Simply put,if he ate,his new dragon stuff would demand its ,ohh, three
pounds of matter to sustain itself,which meant Marcus would become
hungrier and hungrier the more he changed.
Marcus knew none of that of course,or he'd have cut off the budding horns
and ears before he slid further down that slippery slope into
eternally hungry,never enough to eat,dragonhood.
So it wasn't long before Marcus was feeling hungrier,and he emptied out all the
food in the kitchen,which did not sate his appetite,but only made things
worse.
And Marcus began to feel feverishly hot.
So he did one thing right,he tore off the Amulet.Then he headed for the
bathroom,filled the tub to the top and sank in the cold water
to cool himself.
Alas,unknownst to Marcus,the Amulet quietly and magically reappeared around his
neck,and continued its job whilst he lay in the water.
The water levgel sank as slowly,Marcu's nose began to flatten out,his toes
and fingers slowly lengthened and his neck gained a inch of length as
his bones began to lengthen.
