Thomas the Akita was in a rather compromising position and couldn't do much but whine as Ian wrapped a rope
tightly around his neck and then the other end to a tree. "Bad move, pooch," he said quietly. "You tried to
trap us, and then come back for revenge?"
He went inside while Thomas stewed in the backyard. The rope was too tight to get loose and when he tried to
bite at it, Honey would growl and leap at him. Eventually, Thomas laid down in the grass and waited.
He waited like that until dawn, when a truck pulled up out front and a man with an animal control uniform
walked in. "What do we have here?" he asked.
Ian shrugged, "He got into the yard last night and I caught him mounting my dog. She's in heat, so I'll bet
he knocked her up. I just want him gone."
The officer stuck the noose around the Akitas neck before Ian undid the rope. "No collar, but a purebreed
like this is probebly chipped. We'll find his owner."
"What happens if you don't?" asked Ian.
The officer shrugged, "We'll try to adopt him out. Maybe contact a no-kill shelter or a breed rescue. If we
can't adopt him out, we'll have to put him down." With that, the officer removed the offending dog from the
property.
